Advanced Medical Technology Association
(AdvaMed) - AdvaMed, fromerly know as the Health Industry Manufacturers
Association (HIMA) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association and the largest medical
technology association in the world. HIMA represents more than 700 manufacturers of
medical devices, diagnostic products, and medical information systems.
American Electronics Association (AEA) --
The AEA is the nation's largest high technology trade association representing a broad
range of high technology segments. Its fundamental goal is to help create a healthy
business environment for the high technology industry and to strengthen the industry's
position in world markets.
American
Medical Writers Association, Northwest Chapter (AMWA) -- Members of the AMWA-NW create
and edit biomedical information for organizations, corporations, universities, and
government agencies. The NW chapter, reactivated in 1995, has over 100 members in the
Northwest, including British Columbia, Canada and five states: Washington, Oregon, Idaho,
Montana, and Alaska.
American Society of Association Executives (ASAE)

American Society of Gene Therapy (ASGT) -- The ASGT,
based in Seattle, promotes and fosters the exchange and diffusion of information and ideas
relating to gene therapy.
Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) -- BIO is
the world's largest industry organization serving and representing biotechnology.
Drug Information Association (DIA) -- The DIA is
a non-profit, multi-disciplinary, member-driven scientific association with a membership
from regulatory agencies, academia, contract service organizations, pharmaceutical,
biological and device industry, and from other health care organizations.
International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers
Association (IFPMA) -- The IFPMA represents, through its member associations, the
international worldwide research-based pharmaceutical industry and manufacturers of
prescribed medicines.
International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering
(ISPE) -- ISPE's membership includes nearly 23,000 pharmaceutical manufacturing
professionals in 80 countries. ISPE is a catalyst for "Engineering Pharmaceutical Innovation"
by providing Members with opportunities to develop technical knowledge, exchange practical
experience, and collaborate with global regulatory agencies.
Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA)
-- The MDMA is a national trade association based in Washington, D.C. that represents 130
independent manufacturers of medical devices, diagnostic products and health care
information systems. The MDMA seeks to improve the quality of patient care by encouraging
the development of new medical technology and fostering the availability of beneficial
innovative products.
MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest -- The MIT
Enterprise Forum, Inc. is a not-for-profit public service organization founded in 1978 to
promote and strengthen the process of starting and growing companies which primarily have
a strong technology orientation by providing services which educate, entertain and inform
entrepreneurs and supporters of entrepreneurship.
NanoBusiness Alliance -- The NanoBusiness
Alliance is an industry association founded to advance the emerging business of
nanotechnology and Microsystems. The Alliance's mission is to create a collective voice for the
emerging small tech industry and develop a range of initiatives to support
and strengthen the nanotechnology business community.
Northwest Association for Biomedical Research (NWABR) --
NWABR is dedicated to promoting public understanding of the implications and applications of
the process of biomedical research. Association members come from industry, academia, health
care, and voluntary health organizations.
Northwest Association for Bioscience Finance Officers (NABFO) --
NABFO is dedicated to promoting public understanding of the
implications and applications of the process of biomedical research. Our members come from
industry, academia, health care, and voluntary health organizations. All are stakeholders in
the continuing search for cures and treatments for diseases affecting people and animals.
Northwest Biomedical Development Network (NWBDN) --
The NWBDN is an informal, non-profit organization of scientists who work in drug
development in the Seattle/Puget Sound area. The organization's objective is to provide a
forum for presentations and discussion of current issues in drug development, and for
networking with peers from local companies.
Northwest Entrepreneur Network (NWEN) --
The NWEN helps entrepreneurs make the connections and access the resources they need to succeed.
Focused on helping entrepreneurs build their business network, the NWEN
provides the knowledge, mentoring, and access to investors that creates and grows
successful companies.
Northwest Environmental Business Council -- The
Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC) is an umbrella for the new five-state
regional environmental association (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington).
Nuclear Medicine Research Council (NMRC) --
The NMRC is a nonprofit organization based in Richland, Washington, that is devoted to the
beneficial applications of radioisotopes for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of
disease.
Oregon Bioscience Association (OBA) -- The mission
of the Oregon Bioscience Association, a not-for-profit organization, is to promote the growth and quality of
the biotechnology industry in the State of Oregon and ensure it achieves its full economic and social potential.
Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum (OEF) -- The Oregon Entrepreneurs
Forum is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the climate for emerging,
growth-oriented companies across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. OEF helps improve the flow
of ideas, services, and capital to entrepreneurs and helps connect companies to expertise and
other resources they need to grow their business.
Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) -- A statewide
environmental group based in Oregon, the OEC helps develop major environmental policies in
the state and brings Oregonians together for a healthy environment.
Pacific Northwest Bio/Technologies Alliance --
The Pacific Northwest Bio/Technologies Alliance is a non-profit educational organization
based in Seattle. The Alliance represents the merger of the NW Chapter of the Laboratory
Robotics Interest Group and Array(bio). The Alliance's mission is to provide an open forum
for the exchange of ideas in the application of new techniques and technologies in life
science research.
Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) -- PNWER
is a non-profit organization that brings together legislative, government and private
sector leaders to work toward the development of public policies that promote the
economies of the Pacific Northwest, including: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and
Washington plus the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Yukon.
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) --
PhRMA is an industry association comprised of approximately 100 U.S. companies committed
to pharmaceutical research. The site has an excellent section on "Drugs in
Development", along with industry facts and figures, health guides, answers to
frequently asked questions and other pharmaceutical industry news.
Proteome Society --
The Proteome Society's mission is to provide worldwide opportunities for education,
networking, and information exchange between scientists from variety of disciplines
centering around proteomics research and to provide a public forum for panel discussions
and scientific posters, seminars and electronic debates.
Woman in Technology International (WITI) -- WITI is a
non-profit association dedicated to increasing the number of women in executive roles;
helping women become more financially independent and technology-literate; encouraging
young women to choose careers in science and technology.
