Research Associate I-II, Protein Biochemist

Research - Bothell, Washington

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a protein biochemist/chemist to participate in advancing our antibody drug conjugate technology in the Protein Sciences Department at Seagen. We seek an individual who will enjoy working at the bench in a collaborative fashion alongside scientists with a variety of backgrounds and specialties. This position will allow an entry or mid-level research associate to contribute to new antibody-drug conjugate-based research programs.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and characterization of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) using established and experimental expression and conjugation methodologies and analytical techniques, including HPLC and mass spectrometry analysis
  • Analysis of antibody/antigen binding interactions through cell-based (FACS) and non cell-based (ELISA, BLI) assays
  • Designing and implementing novel protein conjugation and antibody engineering strategies to advance ADC technology
  • Working collaboratively with other scientists and departments on ADC-based research projects
  • Preparation of critical reagents

Required Qualifications:

  • S. or M.S. degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in protein chemistry, bioconjugation, cell-based assay development, and/or analytical biochemistry is greatly desired
  • Hands on experience and a good understanding of protein chemistry, protein purification, and protein characterization
  • Experience with antibody binding assays and analyses including FACS, ELISA, and/or BLI
  • Experience working with and safe handling of cytotoxic compounds
  • Ability to write and edit macros in Microsoft Excel would be beneficial
  • Good communication and organizational skills and the ability to interface constructively with other scientists
  • Desire to learn new techniques and be at the cutting edge of bioconjugation technologies
