About the Position

Working within the Information Security team at Zymeworks, the Senior, Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for the analysis of security events and the investigation and resolution of security incidents detected by our security platforms. This individual is a key role in the protection of Zymeworks in this challenging cyber threat landscape. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a complex technical environment in a rapidly evolving organization, take ownership, possess analytical and problem-solving thinking, as well as a teamwork mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and analysis of security events and alerts from internal and external sources, and execution of incident response activities (from identification to resolution and documentation).
• Lead the threat hunting activities, being the first liaison with our MDR partner.
• Guarantee the collection and digestion of event logs from critical assets in the SIEM Platform.
• Conduct continuous discovery and vulnerability assessment of enterprise-wide assets, along with validation, remediation recommendations, and documentation.
• Test and evaluate security products.
• Assist with the development of playbooks and procedures.
• Research and monitoring of emerging threat risk assessments and recommend relevant controls and mitigations.
• Involvement in penetration testing exercises (Blue Team) and network/system security assessments.
• Participation in projects to guarantee that information security internal controls and best practices are considered and/or incorporated through the entire project life cycle.
• Perform control reviews and reports as assigned and identified in weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules.
• Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cybersecurity awareness training for colleagues.
• Support internal stakeholders in regards of cybersecurity, such as phishing, security alerts and guidance.
• Be a Security Champion and evangelize technical teams by raising awareness of best practices in security.

This position will report to the Manager, Information Security, and will be based in Vancouver, BC.

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree or college diploma in information systems and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience in an information security role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years’ experience in complex IT environments.
• Experience with New Generation Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM/SOAR, EDR.
• Experience in security alert analysis, threat hunting, and incident handling.
• Experience in vulnerability assessments.
• GIAC Cyber Defense /Offensive Operations certifications are highly desirable.
• Microsoft Azure-500 Certification and/or AWS Certified Security – Specialty will be an asset.
