Company Description

Zymeworks is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of next-generation bispecific and multifunctional biotherapeutics, initially focused on the treatment of cancer. Zymeworks’ suite of complementary therapeutic platforms and its fully-integrated drug development engine provide the flexibility and compatibility to precisely engineer and develop highly-differentiated product candidates.

Zymeworks is seeking a highly-motivated professional who is looking to grow their career with our company.

This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Technical and Manufacturing Operations and will be based in Seattle, WA.

As a condition of employment, Zymeworks requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide verification of such.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the clinical and commercial supply function, including vendor identification, build robust supply chain systems within the department to ensure optimum oversight inside of our internal network (i.e., raw materials, drug substance, drug product).
  • Build internal performance measurement and governance, as well as optimizing communications with internal and external business units and senior management.
  • Optimize the supply chain footprint to address cost and service excellence goals.
  • Ensure the uninterrupted supply of clinical and commercial products within the forecast and budget parameters by ensuring that product supply planning is forecasted correctly.
  • Work with internal cross functional teams to optimize systems for developing inventory targets and monitoring supply/ replenishment to achieve targeted inventory levels on both a cost and unit basis.
  • Lead negotiation efforts for major contracts and distribution agreements. Create and optimize contracts and budget processes to maximize the value of our supply network.
  • Oversee trade compliance for global clinical/commercial product distribution in full compliance with all international regulatory requirement (i.e. FDA, HC, EU, CDE, etc.).
  • Lead the implementation and process improvement initiatives for Supply Chain KPIs for the company.
  • Experience with MSA’s and contract negotiations is required.
  • Expert understanding of demand planning, supply planning, and cross-functional S&OP processes and related systems.
  • Expert understanding of supply chain KPIs (e.g., forecast accuracy, fill rates, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, etc.).
  • Experience using continuous improvement techniques and lean principles to lead operational transformation.
  • Experience leading multi-site manufacturing operations; partnering with contract manufacturing highly desired.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or relative discipline and a minimum of 15 years of related experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and with third party organizations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to manage, develop and empower employees.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent deliverables and work effectively in a goal-oriented environment.
  • Able to strategically manage the Supply Chain function and the associated systems required to maintain overall compliance and adequate supply.
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity and ethics.
  • Working knowledge of GXP principles with respect to international regulations.
  • Experience in supply chain oversight of GMP biological products in a third party CDMO environment.
  • Thorough understanding of GXP principles and requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
