Summary

This role provides technical and strategic oversight of the IT data privacy program. The Senior Privacy Program Manager will partner closely with the Legal Privacy team to ensure privacy awareness and compliance across all lines of business at Seagen. You should have advanced technical skills with Privacy-focused applications and extended knowledge of global data protection laws. Experience translating compliance requirements into operating procedures is essential.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical strategy and vision for privacy across the organization
  • Manage ongoing complex projects and outsourced relationships while driving Legal Privacy’s vision for the global privacy framework
  • Guide privacy awareness campaigns across the organization to ensure employee education
  • Drive the technology behind key privacy initiatives such as GDPR, SCC, DSRR, Schrems II and other regulatory compliance with internal and external parties
  • Manage cross-functional engagements with various stakeholders, including Information Security and Enterprise Architecture, ensuring both existing and new services, products or processes comply with privacy obligations
  • Lead key technical initiatives like Privacy Impact Assessments, Transfer Impact Assessments and Record of Processing Activities
  • Oversee the company’s compliance with global data protection laws and policies and review of privacy impact assessments, and other relevant data protection activities
  • Drive the process for updating executive leaders on the global data privacy requirements of current and new regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in business, information security or equivalent privacy studies
  • 8+ years of demonstrable work experience and a proven track record of dealing with data protection and privacy issues globally
  • Possesses deep technical expertise gained from working in cloud-native infrastructure or data systems
  • Experience leading collaborative engagements with cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of IT security and governance frameworks, such as ISO 27001/2, NIST and COBIT
  • Strong understanding and experience with international privacy laws
  • Experience with Creating and Delivering Privacy Services (i.e. Regulatory readiness, Programs definition, implementation and automation, Data Protection strategy and implementation, Data Use Governance and Ethics, Privacy by Design for new technologies, Privacy Audits, etc.)
  • Strong verbal presentation and writing skills with emphasis towards clear and concise text

  • Must take initiative, be detail-oriented and extremely organized, with proven ability to establish priorities and achieve results
  • Works independently with minimal guidance to drive projects to completion, while also working collaboratively with the team to achieve strategic goals
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency who takes ownership and responsibility for service delivery
  • Passionate about the data privacy problem space
  • Good team player who can lead effectively with peers across functions
  • Highly motivated and strives to achieve objectives
  • Professional, clear, and concise communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong deductive reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, prioritization, and consultative skills
  • Proven organizational skills (time management and prioritization) and employs a rigorous process for all follow-up / coordination activities
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, balancing multiple incidents, special projects, and other activities
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively at all levels of the business including both technical and non-technical staff, management, and senior leadership
  • Biotechnology experience is highly desired
