Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organized, and creative protein biochemist to participate in advancing our antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology in the Protein Engineering group in Discovery Research at Seagen. We seek an individual with excellent interpersonal and scientific skills who will enjoy working at the bench in a collaborative fashion alongside scientists with a variety of backgrounds and specialties.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepare antibodies and ADCs using established and experimental expression, purification, and bioconjugation methodologies
  • Characterize antibodies and ADCs using analytical techniques (HPLC, mass spectrometry) and binding assays (flow cytometry, ELISA, BLI)
  • Culture mammalian cells and use for cell-based assays
  • Design and implement novel antibody engineering strategies to advance ADC technology
  • Work collaboratively with other scientists and departments on research projects
  • Record and communicate scientific results, including giving presentations at project and departmental meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in biochemistry or a related field, with 2+ years of research experience
  • Significant experience in protein chemistry, protein expression and purification, cell-based assay development, and/or analytical biochemistry
  • A track record of generating reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision, yet understands when to seek input and when to make independent judgments
  • Proven creativity, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills
  • Self-motivation to understand the principles of therapeutic protein biology
  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced, flexible, and collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture
  • Experience with antibody binding assays and analyses including FACS, ELISA, SPR and/or BLI
