Position Summary

The medical advisor will function as a scientific expert for the Medical Affairs Department and Seagen Canada. This role will work closely with the Canadian Country Medical Director, to develop the medical affairs strategy for current and future solid tumor products. This person will be responsible for providing medical expertise and leadership to the Canadian commercial, clinical and regulatory teams and have responsibility for the execution of the national medical affairs tactics. The role will interface with multiple internal functions including medical science liaisons (MSLs), global medical affairs, medical affairs operations, scientific collaboration, commercial (marketing, sales), market access, health outcomes and clinical development. This role will establish and maintain strong relationships with Key opinion Leaders across the country as well as external partners.

Principal Responsibilities

Specific duties are outlined below but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute the national medical affairs strategy current and future products
  • Effectively engage key opinion leaders to collaborate on national projects and ultimately meet the needs of patients and advance the field of oncology
  • Provide strategic guidance to the MSL team with the goal of overseeing the execution of the regional medical affairs activities and support reactive material development to address healthcare provider questions
  • Provide medical expertise to the value access strategy and actively support the development and execution of Health-related outcome research in line with the Canadian medical affairs plan
  • Work in partnership with the Scientific Collaboration team for investigator-initiated trials
  • Collaborate with Medical Information specialists on the development of medical information letters and documents
  • Lead, coordinate and deliver in a timely manner all national medical affairs tactics
  • Work cross-functionally with commercial, clinical development and regulatory teams to provide medical expertise to support their respective activities

Qualifications

  • 5+ years previous medical affairs experience
  • 2+ years oncology experience required
  • Experience and understanding of drug development
  • Experience with reimbursement processes in Canada
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English and French strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines
  • Business and customer oriented
  • Analytic and synthetic capacity
  • Ability to understand and simplify scientific concepts
  • Ability to work in an international matrix organization
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills; able to address the scientific and non-scientific community as target audiences
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Team spirit and teamwork ability
  • Preferred location Toronto or Montreal

Education:

  • PhD, PharmD or MD with oncology background

  • 25%
