Summary:

The BioProcess Development (BPD) department at Seagen is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in the Cell Line Development (CLD) group. The Research Associate II will support development of cell lines used to produce therapeutic proteins for clinical trials and future commercial applications. The CLD team uses modern molecular biology and aseptic cell culture techniques to create recombinant CHO cell lines for biologics production. As a key stage-gate between research and bioprocess development, CLD functionality is critical to the establishment and advancement of CMC project timelines and deliverables. The CLD team works in a highly collaborative, cross functional CMC setting involving many functional areas.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform tissue culture of mammalian cells using sterile techniques
  • Assist with expression vector construction and plasmid preparation
  • Support cell line generation activities for First in Human programs
  • Contribute to new technology evaluation
  • Participate in general lab maintenance such as stocking/ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and media/buffer preparation
  • Analyze recombinant protein expression using high-throughput analytical methods
  • Work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Compile and analyze data, keep accurate records of experiments and results (familiarity with electronic lab notebooks, such as Benchling, desired)
  • Provide updates and present data in team and group meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related science major
  • Well versed with cell line generation, clonal isolation and characterization techniques
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques: Methods involved in plasmid construction, DNA/RNA isolation from mammalian cells
  • Familiarity with sequence analysis and plasmid design tools like SnapGene or other molecular biology related software
  • Good organization, time management and problem-solving skills
  • A team player with good communication skills, desire to achieve team and individual goals

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of python, R, and SQL, and database management
  • Experience using automation or high-throughput equipment is preferred
  • Relevant experience in the biotechnology industry or academic laboratory

The hiring pay range for this position is $72,000 to $94,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
