Position Summary:
The Manager, Biomarkers will participate in efforts to design and execute strategies to understand mechanisms related to pharmacodynamics, drug response and resistance and efficacy markers in relation to clinical endpoints. The successful candidate will execute biomarker strategies to enable drug development candidates to move through clinical development. The successful candidate will also work and communicate with product team members from many disciplines outside of Translational Sciences, such as Clinical Development and Regulatory. Keys for success will include devising scientifically sound biomarker plans, working with CROs and internal teams to implement assays into clinical trials, and communicating data and program impacts to project teams. This hybrid position has the option of being based in our Bothell/Seattle or South San Francisco offices.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of strategies for elucidating biomarkers of drug response and resistance, and the clinical testing of associated hypotheses for Phase 1-3 studies.
- Regularly attend study team and governance-level meetings to inform teams on biomarker and development strategies
- Collaborate with Research, Translational Sciences, and Clinical Development to identify potential tumor and immune biomarkers to inform early and late-stage development strategies
- Have knowledge on biomarker approaches in oncology
- Provide oversight for the development, validation, and execution of clinical biomarker assays
- In close collaboration with the Clinical Development Operations, Biometrics, and Bioinformatics functions, manage the timely testing and data analysis of clinical trial samples
- Present data and strategic recommendations to functional leadership and stakeholders in Translational Sciences and Clinical Development
Required Qualifications:
- PhD with 3+ years relevant experience; or equivalent, such as M.S. with 8+ years relevant experience
- Degree in relevant scientific discipline such as pathology, immunology, oncology, molecular biology, genetics, etc.
- Experience with protein- and/or nucleic acid-based assays such as Flow Cytometry, IHC, PCR, genomic profiling, and gene expression analysis
- Excellent communication & organizational skills with a strong business acumen; able to convey complex scientific and business issues to devise, reach agreement on, and implement solutions
- Knowledgeable in the areas of cancer biology, clinical oncology and/or immunology
- Ability to collaborate, lead, and influence others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with clinical trials and basic clinical biomarker applications

The hiring pay range for this position is $135,000 to $175,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire and an annual bonus.
